Born in Florence\, South Carolina and now residing in both Hoover and Florence\, Alabama\, Dr. Boyd brings a deep commitment to family\, faith\, and community to everything he does. \nA successful businessman and engineer\, Will began his career working in manufacturing leadership roles both in the U.S. and abroad\, including as a production manager and quality executive with A.O. Smith Water Products and International Filter Manufacturing. His experience in both the private and public sectors gives him a unique understanding of how to grow opportunity\, build strong organizations\, and lead with integrity. \nDr. Boyd holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of South Carolina\, an MBA from Regis University\, and doctorates in Religion\, Psychology\, and Organizational Management. He has served as Chancellor of St. James the Elder University and as Dean of Student Success and Assistant Professor of Management at Greenville College. He is also the author of three books focused on leadership\, values\, and faith. \nIn public service\, Will made history as the first African American elected to the City Council in Greenville\, Illinois\, and later as the first African American major-party nominee for U.S. Senate in Alabama in 2022. He has also served as the Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor in 2018 and for U.S. Congress in 2016. \nWill is active in his community and has served on the Board of Directors for the Health Care Authority of Lauderdale County and the City of Florence. He is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity\, Inc.\, where he has held multiple leadership roles. \nIn addition to his civic and academic leadership\, Will is a respected faith leader. He serves as Presiding Bishop of Zion Ministries\, Pastor of the historic St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Florence\, and patriarch of the Holy Catholic Church International. All are welcome to come to our meetings. \nOur next meeting-and our first for 2026-will be held on Thursday\, January 8th at 6:00 pm at our NEW meeting location\, Brandon’s Place\, which is located at 1204 2nd Ave N\, Clanton\, AL 35045. \nAll are welcome to attend\, regardless of membership status. \nWe are pleased to announce our Special Guest Speaker Yolanda Flowers\, Qualified Candidate for Governor of Alabama 2026\, who will be presenting her platform with a Q&A session following her presentation. \n \nYolanda Rochelle Robinson-Flowers announced my candidacy for governor on September 23\, 2025\, for the 2026 gubernatorial election. I am a native of Birmingham\, where I attended Henry J. Oliver Elementary School and graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1978. I am a widow\, a mother of three\, a grandmother of 12\, and a great-grandmother of five\, soon to be six. When I ran for governor in 2022\, I had never run for a political office on this magnitude. It was exceptionally grievous because I had buried my husband of 43 years due to cancer\, three months before I announced. I obtained an associate’s degree in Speech\, a bachelor’s degree in Audiology\, and a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  \nI am a member of the Metro Birmingham Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC)\, serving as Youth Director. Additionally\, I am a member of the Metro Birmingham Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)\, a member of THE American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)\, a member of Alabama Arise\, and a member of the Mizpah Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star\, Hagar Chapter #7. Furthermore\, I serve as the Minister of Music at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and the musician for the Women’s Division of the New Era Progressive Baptist State Convention of Alabama. Currently\, I volunteer my service as the Speech Therapist at Miracle Academy Christian School of Birmingham.   \nHaving made history when I ran for governor in 2022\, I continue to travel the state\, a service no other candidate has ever done\, teaching and meeting with various leaders regarding the inequities displayed in our state; teaching all citizens\, who desire to know\, on God and Government: The Historical\, Biblical\, and Constitutional Perspectives\, and feeding the homeless\, conducting voter registration drives\, and serving the poor. \nWe look forward to interesting conversation\, discussion and shared ideas. DESCRIPTION:The Alabama Blue Conference (ABC) is our annual in-person event\, where we gather Democrats and like-minded individuals from all corners of our state to learn from one another\, network\, and grow together. \nOur next conference will be held on Saturday\, April 11th\, 2026. Tickets on sale now! \nTheme: Building a Bolder Blue\nDate: Saturday\, April 11th\, 2026\nTime: 9 am – 3 pm\nLocation: University of Montevallo\, Merchants and Planters Bank Auditorium\, located in the Humanities Hall.\nAddress: 1011 Farmer St\, Montevallo\, AL 35115\nCost: Suggested donation of $30 to help cover the event\, but you may donate any amount. Vendors are $50. \nThe Alabama Blue Conference on Saturday\, April 11 at the University of Montevallo is an annual conference meant for grassroots Democrats to get together to learn\, network\, and grow. The conference is anchored this year by 2 keynote speakers\, Dr. Porch’se “Queen” Miller\, a nationally recognized civil rights advocate\, and Marilyn Lands\, Democratic House Representative from District 10. The day will also include an immigration panel of Celsa Stallworth from the ACLU and Kimberly Fasking\, an immigration attorney and Chair of the Morgan County Dems.
