Born in Florence\, South Carolina and now residing in both Hoover and Florence\, Alabama\, Dr. Boyd brings a deep commitment to family\, faith\, and community to everything he does. \nA successful businessman and engineer\, Will began his career working in manufacturing leadership roles both in the U.S. and abroad\, including as a production manager and quality executive with A.O. Smith Water Products and International Filter Manufacturing. His experience in both the private and public sectors gives him a unique understanding of how to grow opportunity\, build strong organizations\, and lead with integrity. \nDr. Boyd holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of South Carolina\, an MBA from Regis University\, and doctorates in Religion\, Psychology\, and Organizational Management. He has served as Chancellor of St. James the Elder University and as Dean of Student Success and Assistant Professor of Management at Greenville College. He is also the author of three books focused on leadership\, values\, and faith. \nIn public service\, Will made history as the first African American elected to the City Council in Greenville\, Illinois\, and later as the first African American major-party nominee for U.S. Senate in Alabama in 2022. He has also served as the Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor in 2018 and for U.S. Congress in 2016. \nWill is active in his community and has served on the Board of Directors for the Health Care Authority of Lauderdale County and the City of Florence. He is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity\, Inc.\, where he has held multiple leadership roles. \nIn addition to his civic and academic leadership\, Will is a respected faith leader. He serves as Presiding Bishop of Zion Ministries\, Pastor of the historic St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Florence\, and patriarch of the Holy Catholic Church International. His ministry work spans the globe\, offering guidance and support to communities in Alabama and beyond. \nAbove all\, Will is grounded in faith\, committed to service\, and focused on building a better future for Alabama families. \nI Believe! \nSince 2015\, I have extensively traveled the State of Alabama explaining how I believe we need to: \n\n Support our educators and our students by fully funding high quality pre-K while also investing in HBCUs\, community colleges\, and trade schools;\nBuild a stronger economy from the ground up by growing the Alabama workforce as we improve support for small business owners and blue collar workers;\nMake healthcare affordable for all as we continue our fight against Covid-19\, expand Medicaid\, and support the lowering of prescription drug costs;\nFight for voter rights to ensure that every voter’s voice is heard at the ballot box; and \nProtect the environment by cleaning up of areas where there is water contamination\, modernizing our waterways and ports\, installing more electric charging stations\, and embracing  clean and renewable energy sources as we still rely on an “all-inclusive approach” to energy.\n\nAs a servant leader\, I believe we need leaders who embody core values  which  include equality\, fairness\, and freedom as I envision a day in the near future when every American has an equal opportunity to realize “The American Dream.” \nNow is the time us to work alongside each other to fight for: \n\nEthical excellence\,\nEconomic development\,\nEducational equity\,\nExceptional healthcare for all\,\nEqual justice for all\,\nEnding voter suppression\, and\nEnsuring all Alabamians have their voices heard at the ballot box and a “seat at the table.”\n\nI am especially thankful for all who have worked hard alongside me to make changes worldwide. Join us for our December monthly Sunday get together-and our final Sunday get together of 2025 at a local venue with delicious Mexican cuisine! You can view the menu at their website. Event begins at 2:00 pm. Please feel welcome to come and join us for an informal gathering.
