Second August Monthly Meeting Added
At the last General Meeting on August 6th, given the extreme importance of preparing for the critically important upcoming November 2026 Midterm Elections and getting the vote out, it was determined and decided that it is important to hold two general meetings a month, at least through the midterm elections.

NEW LOCATION FOR THE SECOND GENERAL MEETING WILL BE:

CALLING ALL DEMOCRATS!
Get ready, and mark your calendars! August 11 we go back to the polls. This will be the 3rd Primary election for Chilton County. If you didn’t vote previously PLEASE MAKE A PLAN TO VOTE. Exercise your right to vote. There are 4 democrats and 2 republicans running for District 6.
Got questions? We did too. We did some digging and found some answers at Alarise.org:.
1. What’s happening with special elections for Congress? Do I have to vote again?
Alabama is redoing primary elections for U.S. House Districts 1, 2, 6 and 7. This means if you live in all of south Alabama and large parts of central Alabama, including most of metropolitan Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile, Dothan and the Black Belt, the votes cast in those U.S. House primary races on May 19 were voided. New special primary elections to select major party candidates are scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 11.
This new congressional map will go into effect for the special primary elections scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 11:

Above: The new district lines for Congressional Districts 1, 2, 6 and 7 will go into effect for the Aug. 11, 2026, special primaries and the Nov. 3, 2026, general election.
2. Who will appear on the ballot for the congressional special primaries in August?
The special primary election will be to select the parties’ nominees for the November ballot. So it’s important to keep in mind that not every race will have a contested primary, even if the primary race has to be redone. If only one candidate from the party qualified for the race, there will be no special primary for that party.
- Congressional District 6: Voters in Chilton County will have two candidates on the Aug. 11 Republican primary ballot: Case Dixon and incumbent U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer. This district’s voters will have four candidates on the Aug. 11 Democratic primary ballot: Jacob Bouma-Sims, Ashtyn Kennedy, Maurice Mercer and Keith Pilkington.

4. How does this impact the votes already cast in the May 11 primary elections?
The August special election will be a redo for only the four U.S. House races and two state Senate primary races mentioned above. Votes previously cast for candidates in those districts will be void, and any runoffs that were set to occur as a result of those primaries will not occur.
5. Why is this happening?
Republican leaders in Alabama are following the lead of President Trump and several Republican-controlled states by taking the unprecedented step of redistricting in the middle of an election cycle, redrawing maps to benefit Republican candidates. This was done in response to a Supreme Court decision, Louisiana v. Callais, issued on April 29, 2026. That 6-3 ruling changed the legal interpretation of the Voting Rights Act, removing some of the key legal protections in place to protect voting power for Black and Hispanic voters. Redistricting is another term for REDLINING.
Chris Pringle- R (Mobile) spoke out in Montgomery saying admitting that district 6 is a PURPLE district:
“They will retaliate, you do know that right? Gary Palmer is our most conservative member and they’ll replace him. Do you want to lose Gary Palmer?”
– Chris Pringle- original sponsor of 2023 map

- Text or call 10 friends and family members and make sure they are registered to vote and understand what’s on the ballot this summer.

Democrats are Fighting to Protect Voting Rights
From The Blue Print at https://blueprint.democrats.org/:
Democrats are Fighting to Protect Voting Rights
Following the Callais decision, Democrats are fighting back as Republicans’ continue their unprecedented push to rig the midterms.
“In the weeks since the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Louisiana v. Callais, Republicans across the South are moving to pass their racially gerrymandered maps that dilute the power of minority voters. Republicans know they don’t stand a chance in the midterm elections, which is why they’re jumping at the opportunity to silence voters and rig the elections in their favor.

We are now seeing an aggressive scramble as Republicans move to dismantle representation for Black, Latino, and AANHPI communities. Despite public opposition to redistricting, Republicans are forging ahead. From South Carolina to Alabama and beyond, these new maps break up minority communities to undermine districts represented by Democrats. Instead of letting voters choose their representatives, Republicans are hand-picking their voters.”
