Chilton County Democratic Party Road Trip To The Legacy Museum
The Chilton County Democratic Party is pleased to announce our upcoming road trip to the National Monument For Peace And Justice on 10-30-2025.
The Legacy Sites invite visitors to reckon with our history of racial injustice in places where that history was lived.
Situated on lands occupied by Indigenous people for centuries, in a region that once held the largest population of enslaved Black people and would later become the heart of the Civil Rights movement, the Legacy Sites offer visitors a powerful opportunity to engage with history and begin an era of truth telling.
About the Sites
Three spaces.
One powerful experience.

Sculpture by Kwame Akoto-Bamfo depicts a man wearing an iron collar like those used on people kidnapped from Africa and trafficked to the Americas during the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
The Legacy Museum
The Legacy Museum offers a powerful, immersive journey through America’s history of racial injustice.
On the site of a cotton warehouse where enslaved Black people were forced to labor in bondage, the Legacy Museum tells the story of slavery in America and its legacy through interactive media, first-person narratives, world-class art, and data-rich exhibits.
Travel through a comprehensive history of the destructive violence that shaped our nation, from the slave trade, to the era of Jim Crow and racial terror lynchings, to our current mass incarceration crisis—and find inspiration in our soaring Reflection Space and world-class art gallery.

The National Memorial for Peace and Justice
The National Memorial is a sacred space for truth telling and reflection about racial terrorism and its legacy.
On a hilltop overlooking Montgomery is the nation’s first comprehensive memorial dedicated to the legacy of Black Americans who were enslaved, terrorized by lynching, humiliated by racial segregation, and presumed guilty and dangerous.
More than 4,400 Black people killed in racial terror lynchings between 1877 and 1950 are remembered here. Their names are engraved on more than 800 corten steel monuments—one for each county where a racial terror lynching took place—that form the main structure of the memorial at the heart of this six-acre site.

Freedom Monument Sculpture Park
Overlooking the Alabama River, Freedom Monument Sculpture Park honors the lives and memories of the 10 million Black people who were enslaved in America and celebrates their courage and resilience.
At this 17-acre site along the very river where tens of thousands of enslaved people were trafficked, breathtaking art and original artifacts invite an immersive, interactive journey and provide a unique view into the lives of enslaved people.
Listen to Muscogee family stories as they were told centuries ago on this very spot. Step inside a train car like those used to traffic enslaved people to Montgomery as you hear trains pass on nearby tracks originally laid by enslaved people. Stand before an authentic dwelling inhabited by enslaved people and marvel at sculptures created from bricks made by enslaved artisans.

From Dr. Will Boyd-Official Website:

Let’s make history in Alabama. Be one of the first 500.
— Sen. Tuberville’s campaign is fueled by million dollar checks from special interests.
Ours? It’s fueled by $25 to Thrive.
That means 500 people giving $25 in the next 72 hours to prove grassroots people-power can stand up to Tuberville’s millions.
After you give, please forward this information to your friends and family and share the link on the social.
If every supporter recruits just 3 more, we’ll blow past our goal and show the true power of grassroots.
This campaign isn’t built on millionaires. It’s of the people, by the people, and for the people.
Together, Alabama Can. Alabama WILL!

Greetings, I’m running for Mayor!
After 27 years on the Jemison City Council—including 13 years as Mayor Pro Tem—I’m stepping up to serve our city as Mayor with the same experience, integrity, and dedication that have guided me every step of the way. As a Certified Municipal Official with an Associate’s Degree in Education, I’m ready to lead with both knowledge and heart.
My vision is clear: to keep pushing Jemison forward through economic growth, strong leadership, and real opportunities for our families and future generations. I also proudly serve on the Chilton County Hospital Board going 15 years strong, and I’m a longtime member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where I’m part of the Deacon Ministry and serve as Financial Secretary.
And through it all, I’ve been blessed with the love and support of my wife of 54 years. ❤️
Let’s keep building a stronger, united Jemison—together. 💙
